Menlo Oaks

Overview

Situated between Menlo Park and Atherton, Menlo Oaks is an unincorporated area of 106 acres in which all services are provided by San Mateo County. The neighborhood consists of three sub-neighborhoods: Menlo Oaks, Vintage Oaks, and South of Seminary. Notable in all areas is an enticingly rural atmosphere, characterized by narrow streets with little through-traffic, an abundance of mature trees, and oversized lots. While both Menlo Oaks and South of Seminary combine original, modest homes with recently built mansions, Vintage Oaks is a newer development with more homogeneous home styles.

Despite its rustic character, the spirit of the area is warm, inviting, and inclusive. Two notable attractions lend distinction to the neighborhood: the Peninsula School and St. Patrick’s Seminary & University. The 90-year-old Peninsula School is a private, progressive institution in the center of the neighborhood, while St. Patrick’s is a Roman Catholic educational institution with the distinction of being the first seminary of its kind west of the Rocky Mountains. To promote local interaction, the Menlo Oaks District Association holds an annual community meeting and coordinates social events for neighbors throughout the year. Because of its casual nature and spacious layout, Menlo Oaks makes itself a commodity to Peninsula residents seeking a convenient but laid-back lifestyle.
