Overview
In a city known for its diversity, intellect, and educational opportunities, City Center is the embodiment of all Cupertino stands for. The neighborhood is located within the area included in the “Heart of the City” plan, making it the true axis of community affiliation. Great variety exists in the types of homes located in City Center—from original homes to apartments to newer subdivisions—which causes a mixture of renters and homeowners. Zoning regulations require new homes to be of a similar size to existing homes, preserving the integrity of the neighborhood.
With over 60% of residents having Asian ancestry, City Center has more Asian residents than almost any other neighborhood in the country. Residents are well-employed and also highly educated (over 70% of adults hold at least a bachelor’s degree). Part of City Center’s allure is the excellent schools. Monta Vista High is one of the nation’s top-ranked schools, and Cupertino High has received multiple accolades. Residents can unwind at two parks within City Center or explore coffee and dining venues along neighboring Main Street Cupertino, and there are plans for redeveloping local Vallco Shopping Mall into an exciting mixed-use zone. City Center’s convenience, housing diversity, and excellent educational prospects are an attractive combination to many prospective residents.
