Overview
Like many Peninsula neighborhoods, Rancho Rinconada is a mixture of homes both old and new, modest and luxurious. Developed in the 1950s and 1960s, many of these homes were designed by renowned architect Cliff May. A portion of the original homes have survived, and some are even protected, like the Eichler-built residences of Fairgrove. However, over the years, exponential growth in Silicon Valley has led to many original homes in Rancho Rinconada being replaced by large, elaborate, luxury homes.
The suburban development of Rancho Rinconada places residents with walking distance of highly regarded Cupertino schools, which is a significant benefit. In addition, shopping centers with amenities like Safeway are just outside the neighborhood’s perimeter, and residents can quickly reach Main Street Cupertino to grab a cup of coffee or meet friends for dinner. Until recently Rancho Rinconada was a relative bargain in terms of Cupertino neighborhoods, but nearby developments like the upcoming Vallco Shopping Mall project and the completion of the Apple Park campus have led to a jump in home prices, which are expected to continue to soar. Still, because of its strategic placement between multiple highways and favorable access to shopping, dining, and schools, Rancho Rinconada proves itself as a neighborhood that’s worth the price tag.
