Atherton Oaks

Overview

Atherton Oaks is an understated neighborhood of mostly Ranch-style homes, punctuated by a few majestic old estates. Although, like most of Atherton, many homes are on lots of one acre or larger, there are a few original homes on smaller lots. The neighborhood is almost divided in two by Holbrook-Palmer Park, the only public park in Atherton, which holds 22 lovely acres of trees, gardens, and various indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. Classes like dog-training and international folk dance, as well as community events, are held in the park throughout the year.

Homes in Atherton Oaks can be a relative bargain, compared to pricier, adjacent Lindenwood. The least expensive homes are located near the Caltrain tracks or busy Middlefield Road, or are older homes on smaller lots. Residents enjoy the convenient location close to 101 and El Camino Real, and within easy distance of shopping and dining in Downtown Menlo Park. Students in Atherton Oaks can attend fine public schools or choose from several excellent private schools nearby, such as Sacred Heart Preparatory or Menlo School. The access and relative value of the Atherton Oaks neighborhood have helped elevate its popularity amongst homebuyers in recent years.
