Lloyden Park

Overview

In a town known for vast, magnificent mansions hidden behind gates and enormous hedges, Lloyden Park may be the coziest and friendliest of all Atherton’s neighborhoods. It once comprised the estate of real estate tycoon Joseph Coryell; in the 1920s, the estate was separated into 86 parcels on which single-family homes were then constructed. Each house is unique, varying in architectural style, which imparts a lively yet picturesque look to the neighborhood.

Unlike the rest of Atherton, the streets of Lloyden Park offer sidewalks, streetlights, and underground utilities. These features, along with the relatively small lots and modest homes of the neighborhood, create a natural intimacy among the neighbors. The Fair Oaks Caltrain station is located just one block from the gates to Lloyden Park, which is a significant boon to commuters. Also within walking distance are attractions like the local library with its beautiful secret garden, the post office, town hall, and Holbrook-Palmer Park. Students enjoy excellent access to acclaimed private schools nearby. The neighborhood is relatively small, so its inventory of homes for sale can be scarce. However, when the opportunity arises, home sales here can be very competitive due to Lloyden Park’s central convenience, homey character, and exciting potential.
